Mrs. Peterson started as a parent volunteer in 1974 and became part of the staff in 1977, teaching the youngest of the pre-k classes for 10 years. She has been the director for the school since 1987. She enjoys gardening and sharing her love of flowers with the children. She is very grateful for the dedicated and professional staff with whom she works.
Ms. Melanie attended the nursery school as a child. She serves as assistant director and classroom aid, which requires her to rotate between all classrooms and, sometimes, teach at a moment's notice. Ms. Melanie earned her Bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Redlands, but finds working with children at United Methodist Nursery School so much more fulfilling.
Ms. Lily teaches the youngest children. With patience and steady grace, she helps these young ones to learn how to function with their peers and in the classroom. Ms. Lily says that working with young children is all that she has ever wanted to do and she very much appreciates the great working environment of UMNS.
Ms. Holly teaches the second youngest age group at the nursery school. She has her Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Cal State San Bernardino, and a Master's degree in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She loves being with the children and doing art projects with them.
Ms. Janine teaches one of the two oldest classrooms. As a teacher, she is very good at fostering independence with her children, always encouraging them to do things for themselves and to take responsibility.
Ms. Dina teaches the oldest class. She is skilled at honing in on the individual needs of each child and helping them to learn every way possible. She says that the best part about teaching is seeing the uniquiness of each child.
